A Platinum Anniversary!

Frank and Pari Slaymaker celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this week.

Lora Bernabei Reynolds and Father Jeremy pay tribute to them and their contribution to Holy Trinity.

Lora writes:

"We'd all wanted to mark Frank and Pari's 70th wedding anniversary at Holy Trinity Church on Sunday 1st September so that the whole congregation could wish them well; unfortunately the heat kept them away, so a few of us decided not to let the occasion pass and descended on them at home on their anniversary day bearing bubbly, nibbles and one of Ella's famous cakes. I had a hard time convincing Pari to just hold court like a queen and enjoy the time as we took over the premises, but as I have known her for 37 years I was able to hold sway!  Frank was his usual charming self and Pari gave a touching tribute to her church family.

Their faithful service and dedication to our church has been an inspiration to our community over the years. Frank and Pari are the longest standing members of our congregation seconded by Tom and Finella and they are people whom we all love and who bring richness to our church life."

Father Jeremy writes:

Frank and Pari have been active members of Holy Trinity in Nice for many decades after having to leave Pari’s country of birth Iran when the Shah was deposed in the Revolution of 1979; Frank had been a pilot for the Shah after leaving the British Royal Air Force. Frank and Pari have both worked with great commitment and energy for Holy Trinity in the decades following their arrival in Nice. Frank was treasurer for many years and Pari’s legendary cooking graced many a table at church functions.  We all offer our hearty congratulations to Frank and Pari on such a magnificent achievement of 70 years of marriage and look forward to celebrating this amazing milestone with them when they are next with us at Holy Trinity.
