Remembering Carole Labrousse

Tom Tennant shares some of his memories of Carole.

Our first memories of Carole Labrousse were when we arrived in Nice in the early 1970's and the American Church of the Holy Spirit on avenue Victor Hugo was still functioning. When this church was sold to the French Protestants in the mid 1970's, Carole along with other parishioners joined us at Holy Trinity .

Carole was an active member of Holy Trinity and at one time we both served as Churchwardens together. This was a difficult time in the life of Holy Trinity and Carole was wise, tolerant  and  most helpful in resolving things.

She and her husband Jean-Philippe had three children: Anne, David and Sarah (who was born in Nice just before we arrived). Jean-Philippe was a Professor of Mathematics at Nice University and Carole taught Maths at the International School at Valbonne.  Just before retiring she was appointed Head Teacher at the school ,which was experiencing some administrative problems at the time.

Carole and her family used to leave Nice during the summer holidays for the Gers Department in South West France where Jean-Philippe had inherited his family home.  They were joined there by their children and grandchildren .

Always a faithful member of our Congregation and a wise Councillor when needed, we will miss her greatly.
